Barcelona Auctions First-ever NFT For Over Half A Million USD. Barcelona is currently open to finding new sources of income and seems to have done so. According to ESPN, the club’s first authorized Non-Fundgible Token (NFT) was sold last night at a Sotheby’s auction and brought in €678k.

Johan Cruyff‘s famous flying goal against Atletico Madrid in 1973 was animated for 40 seconds in The NFT, which reportedly took over 10,000 hours to complete. The purchaser will also have access to several other advantages that would be quite valuable.

The so-called “digital ambassador” will receive access to La Masia, meet and greets, Camp Nou hospitality for at least five years, the possibility to play at Camp Nou, and the opportunity to pass the ball to the players before a friendly match.

The worth of that bundle without the NFT would be intriguing to know, even if it is doubtful that this information would ever be made public. Ironically, the club also referred to the NFT’s advantages as ones that money simply cannot purchase.
