Bruno Guimaraes Reacts To Anthony Gordon’s Debut For Newcastle United. Anthony Gordon made his Newcastle United debut last night, and Bruno Guimaraes has already provided a laconic response to it on Instagram. Eddie Howe will feel a little let down after his team dropped points to West Ham United at St. James’ Park.
Just minutes after Joe Willock had an attempt disallowed, Callum Wilson scored to give the Magpies the lead. David Moyes’ team fought back in the first half as Newcastle failed to defend a corner, allowing Lucas Paqueta to steer the ball past Nick Pope.
Newcastle wasn’t at their best yesterday, and they were without their important midfielder, Guimaraes, who is serving a three-match ban after being sent off in the League Cup semi-final this week.
The Brazilian had to watch from the stands, but he was impressed by Gordon‘s cameo appearance. Gordon just joined the Magpies last weekend, but he appears to have fit in swiftly. After replacing Allan Saint-Maximin in the 70th minute, the 21-year-old looked lively and might have contributed an assist in his debut.
The youngster took to Instagram after the game to express his delight at making his first appearance for Howe’s side.
He wrote: “Not the result we were after but loved my debut!! Focused on the next one.”
Guimaraes left a wordless reply beneath the post as he reacted to Gordon’s debut with a fire emoji.
Saint-Maximin struggled on the day, and when Gordon came on to replace the Frenchman, Newcastle unquestionably appeared to be a more evenly-matched team.
Soon after being introduced, the former Everton player sent a lovely through pass to Callum Wilson, but the English striker was unable to get his shot off.
