Gabby Agbonlahor Explains Why Chelsea’s Star Transfer Value Has Significantly Gone Down. Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor claims that Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku’s value has plummeted since his return to the club.
Last summer, the Belgian returned to Stamford Bridge after a spectacular £97.5 million move from Inter Milan. He has, however, struggled to re-create his finest form.
In 20 Premier League games, he has only scored five goals and has spent time on the sidelines, first with an injury and then with COVID-19. This week, the striker suffered another injury, this time to his Achilles tendon.
Many have dubbed him an “expensive flop” as a result of all of this. Following an inflammatory interview with Sky Italia in January, questions about his future in London surfaced.
These difficulties, according to Agbonlahor, have played a role in Lukaku’s market worth plummeting. He said in an interview with talkSPORT:
“I don’t think they get £50million now for Lukaku. I think someone could come in with a sneaky bid of £40million and Chelsea are in a position where he doesn’t suit the way they play now.”

Lukaku’s play has deteriorated to the point where Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel prefers to start Kai Havertz in his place.
Since the beginning of March, the Belgian hasn’t started a single league game before falling to yet another injury, which will keep him out for the third match in a row. On Sunday, Chelsea hosts Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-finals at Stamford Bridge.
Lukaku has been tight-lipped about his future, but reports suggest he may be on the move again this summer.
PSG is said to have communicated with the striker’s agency about a summer transfer, however, it’s unclear whether Chelsea is willing to sell him in the first place.

At Inter, Lukaku had a terrific relationship with Antonio Conte. The Italian manager is seen to be capable of reviving the star’s form if they reunite.
