Gary Neville Picks One Club That Can Compete With ManCity & Liverpool. Gary Neville believes that the only team in the Premier League that can compete with Manchester City and Liverpool is Tottenham.

For the previous five years, City and Liverpool have dominated the English league. The matchup between the clubs from the previous season was quite close. By just one point, the Citizens narrowly defeated the Reds for the championship, and more of the same is anticipated for the future season.

This summer, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Arsenal all made significant player signings in an effort to bridge the gap, but Neville believes only Spurs have a chance, although a slim one.

“I’ve got Tottenham Hotspur finishing third in my head. Because of [Ivan] Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison added into [the mix of] what they’ve already got,’ the former Manchester United captain said on The Overlap podcast.

“They have already got Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son who are world-class. They have two world-class players up top, and they’ve now added to it with Perisic and Richarlison.

“I think Tottenham are the only club who could challenge. They won’t finish above Liverpool, but they could if somehow Liverpool wobbles or get an injury to Virgil van Dijk, then Tottenham could [challenge]. They are the only club who could potentially.”

The Premier League season for Antonio Conte’s team gets underway on Saturday at home against Southampton.
