“He needs time to adapt” – Lille Midfielder Speaks On Lionel Messi’s Struggles At PSG. Lionel Messi has had a sluggish start to life in France since leaving Barcelona for PSG last summer. Although the Argentine has only scored one goal in domestic competitions so far, Lille midfielder Benjamin Andre refuses to dismiss him.
The 31-year-old believes the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner simply needs time to adjust to French football, reminding everyone of his exceptional skills. He also predicted that he would recover in a short period of time.
“I think like any player who comes from abroad, he [Lionel Messi] needs time to adapt. We know the player; there is no doubt about his qualities.”
“Afterward, he goes from a Spanish championship where there is certainly more space to a French championship where it is more physical. But I have no doubt that he will adapt in a very short time.”

After parting ways with Barcelona last summer, Lionel Messi signed a two-year deal with PSG. Regrettably for the Argentine, he has only one goal in 13 appearances in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.
However, the same cannot be said of his performances in the Champions League, where he has been a stand out player for the Parisians thus far. On Matchday 2, the playmaker scored his first Champions League goal for Paris Saint-Germain, a fantastic strike against Manchester City. He’s scored four more goals since then, bringing his tournament total to five goals in as many games.
It goes without saying that Paris Saint-Germain primary goal is to win their first European title. If the Argentine manages to lead them to victory in the competition, his domestic challenges will be irrelevant.
