Huge Saka Injury Boost For Arsenal Ahead Of Chelsea Clash. Bukayo Saka did not sustain a major injury on Sunday, and Arsenal is cautiously confident that he will be available for Sunday’s crucial encounter at Chelsea.
The English winger left the game after just 27 minutes due to an ankle injury sustained during the 5-0 home victory over Nottingham Forest.
He’d been suffering since the tenth minute when he slipped down the slope behind the Clock End goal and collided with an advertising hoarding.
And two big challenges from Forest full-back Renan Lodi abandoned Saka, who was unable to continue and went directly down the tunnel for treatment.
According to the SUN Arsenal’s medical staff is still monitoring the issue, but they were heartened by Saka’s ability to continue for 15 minutes after the first contact before being taken off as a precaution.
And the fact that he was allowed to leave the Emirates without crutches or a protective boot revealed that the damage was not significant.
And, while he is virtually probably not going to play in Thursday’s last Europa League group game against FC Zurich, he could play against Chelsea the following weekend.
Saka has played a significant role in each of Arsenal’s 17 games this season and has helped his team open up a two-point lead at the top of the Premier League and qualify for the Europa League.
However, Arsenal still needs to defeat Zurich at home in order to secure first place in their Europa League group and avoid the round of 32 in February.
