“It is not just about money,” Anthony Martial Reveals Why He Left Manchester United To Join Sevilla On Loan. Manchester United’s misfits Anthony Martial explains that he joined Sevilla in order to rekindle his love for the game and enjoy playing again. The Frenchman’s loan move to the La Liga club was completed yesterday, with the player arriving in the Andalusian city later to finalise the deal.

He will stay at the club until the end of the season, with the Spanish club covering all of his salary despite not having paid a loan fee and having no obligation to sign him permanently in the summer.

Anthony Martial Joins Sevilla On Loan

Martial sat down for an interview with Sevilla on their official YouTube channel after the transfer was completed, when he expressed his delight at the prospect of playing for the club. He stated:

I feel excited because Sevilla is a good club in Spain and I have come here to do a great job. They have good players and I am just coming to give my best and try to win some trophies for the fans.”

Martial got offers from a number of Premier League clubs, but he chose Sevilla after chatting with the club’s director, Monchi.

The player also disclosed that he spoke with his new manager, Julen Lopetegui, who is one of the contenders for Manchester United’s permanent management position. “I spoke with him a few times and he was very excited to see me come here to play.”

Martial joined United from AS Monaco for £36 million in 2015 and endured a turbulent era at Old Trafford. Following a sensational debut season in the Premier League, the Frenchman stayed quiet for a while before returning to form in the 2019/20 season, scoring 17 goals in the top level.

But it was a temporary blip, as injuries and a lack of form saw him lose his spot in the starting XI, with the player making only eight league appearances this season, starting only twice. Unhappy with his current predicament, the 26-year-old moved to Sevilla in the hopes of restarting his once-promising career.

“I have seen some games, they are playing good football, they are still in the Europa League, they are second, we just need to work hard and do our best to do something. It was just about the feeling I had with the manager and I had the feeling in the moment I wanted to join Sevilla,”  he said.

It is not just about money, just to play and enjoy. That’s it, that’s why I chose to come here; to play and enjoy my football again,” he added.
