Despite the arrival of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe is no closer to signing a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
The signing of the Argentine put the argument about Mbappe’s future on hold for the time being, as the astonishing trade was finalised just days after Messi’s exit from Barcelona was made public.
The World Cup winner’s future, on the other hand, remains as far away from PSG as it has ever been.
Mbappe still wants to leave PSG, according to reports in both Spain and France, and while that won’t happen this summer due to Real Madrid’s financial difficulties, it will in a year’s time when he is available on a free transfer.

Real Madrid Calling Mbappe
During Messi’s presentation on Wednesday, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi publically chastised Mbappe.
Prior to that, Mbappe’s declared reason for doubting PSG was that he was concerned about the project’s competitiveness.
Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Lionel Messi have all signed since then. PSG now has arguably the greatest collection of individual players in the history of the sport. They certainly have the world’s most formidable (and expensive) group on hand.
“He has said he wanted a competitive team and we could not have one that is any more competitive,” Al-Khelaifi said.
“He has no excuses to do anything other than to stay.”
The excuses may be gone, but Mbappe’s desire to leave reportedly has not. Real Madrid are still calling to him.
What is the explanation for this? It has not been made public, but according to AS. Mbappe wants to be recognized as the best player on his team. Of course, with a slew of talents surrounding him at PSG, this is impossible.
This, however, contradicts his prior comments that he desired a team capable of winning the Champions League, as such squads usually generally have two or three star players.
Mbappe’s time at PSG, meanwhile, might be over by July 2022.
