Orlando Pirates Coach Delivers An Honest Reflection Following Kaizer Chiefs Loss. Pirates flew so high following the Mamelodi Sundowns‘ victory last week, but as The South African wrote on Saturday, they came back to Earth.
The Sea Robbers’ effort in the Soweto derby was a mere shadow of their Polokwane display against Kabo Yellow, which did not serve to up the ante in that match.

The Pirates‘ head coach told the reporters that he thought the match between the two teams was somewhat uninspiring. “From my point of view, a bad game. A nil-nil game, very slow game,” Riveiro said via SABC Sport.
“The game was played in a rhythm that we did not expect. I think it was quite boring, to be honest.
“We didn’t manage to be vertical…Chiefs was giving us the space to play outside and defending with numbers. Our build-up was deficient today. We could not generate so much football from the inside, where we usually create our chances,” he added.
“From the outside, we were not dangerous enough. We were too naïve in our attacks. We were better in the second half, we changed our formation…but still a bit naïve, if I think about what we did in the lateral corridors. The game was under control, but boring,” the Spaniard said.
