Pep Guardiola Lavishes Praise On Antonio Conte Ahead Of Manchester City Vs Tottenham Hotspur. Pep Guardiola has praised Antonio Conte, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, ahead of their match this weekend. The Cityzens take on Spurs in an eagerly-anticipated Premier League match (February 19).

Talking ahead of the game, Pep Guardiola shared his thoughts on Tottenham boss Antonio Conte. The Spanish tactician was quoted by Manchester Evening News showering praises on Conte’s game tactics and how the Italian manager has formed at Chelsea, Inter Milan and Juventus.

“I would say I don’t have words. I learn a lot watching his teams, the movement. If the club rely on him 100% and his ideas, he knows. He showed in Juventus and changed many things since he arrived, at Milano, at Chelsea.”

Conte should be given more time at the helm, according to Guardiola, if he is to help Spurs win a trophy. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about his own dawning at the Etihad Stadium, saying:

“If they club rely on him 100%, they will have success. In my first season, it was tough for results. Every manager needs time and investment to be there for many times in this country; it’s more difficult than any other place in the world.”

Conte’s tactical acumen was also praised by Guardiola, who added that the Italian left his mark on the Premier League during his time with Chelsea. According to the city manager:

“He arrived, and his impact was clear; many teams started to play five at the back. He arrived, and world football copy and paste it. He won the league fantastically well; he passed to play his system, 5-4-1 or 5-3-2. In the second season, I’m not involved, but he made his stamp in this league.”

Many people would expect a match between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur to be a close one under usual conditions. The availability of Guardiola and Conte in the two dugouts would only add to this.

However, based on recent form, this could easily end up being a comfy win for the Premier League leaders. The Cityzens come into this game in excellent form, having won 11 and drawn one of their last 12 games in all competitions. In fact, Manchester City hasn’t lost a league game since a 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace in October of last year.

Tottenham, on the other hand, has lost their last three Premier League games. Spurs appear to be unravelling quickly after a fantastic start under Conte and are under significant pressure. Defeat to Guardiola’s Cityzens could lead to a drop in their ostensibly bleak chances of finishing in the top four.

Tottenham, on the other hand, can take inspiration from their 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the reverse fixture. It is still one of the Citizens only two league defeats this season.
