Following a successful third season at the Etihad Stadium in 2021/22, the 26-year-old midfielder has signed a new three-year contract extension with Pep Guardiola’s squad through 2027.
Rodri put the finishing touches on the campaign by scoring City’s second goal in the team’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Aston Villa on the final day, which gave City their fourth Premier League championship in five years.
The former Atletico Madrid player has now spoken candidly about his time with the Citizens and shared his aspirations for the future.
“Joining City in 2019 is the best decision I have made in my career,” Rodri told the club’s media.
“I have loved every second. The fans have been amazing with me, I feel totally supported by the club and the manager pushes me every single day.
“I have improved so much as a player, and I want to thank Pep [Guardiola] and all the backroom staff for their help. They are completely committed to helping me become the best player I can be, and I appreciate their hard work.
“We have been very successful since I came here, which is something that makes me very proud. But to be honest, that success has made me even more hungry for me. Once you start winning big titles, you don’t want to stop.
“City, I feel, offers me the best chance of winning trophies and that’s why I am so pleased to be staying here for longer.”

Rodri has appeared 151 times for Manchester City since transferring from Atletico Madrid in 2019. In total, he has contributed nine assists and 13 goals.
The native of Madrid has assisted City in two Premier League victories, two EFL Cup victories, one Community Shield victory, and a Champions League semifinal appearance.
