Jorginho’s performance has suffered as a result of his sacrifice for the team, according to the German manager. The German coach also revealed how tough it has been for the midfielder to live up to those expectations following Italy’s European Championship victory.

“He sacrificed for the team and I think you see it now. There are so many demands and after a big success, like winning the Euros, he felt the pressure.” The 48-year-old said, as quoted by Football.London.

“This is normal and sometimes after big success it is difficult to keep on going and going.” Tuchel has conceded that he has overworked the 30-year-old former Napoli midfielder, which has depleted him.

“He put the responsibility on his shoulders and always does. That is why I love him. We see we overused him and I feel we see the consequences of that. He is not at his freshest moment at the minute.”

Jorginho had a fantastic season for both club and country last season. Chelsea went on to win the Champions League thanks to the midfielder’s contributions.

This season, the Blues also won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup, after finishing second in the FA Cup last season. Last summer, the 30-year-old played a key role for Roberto Mancini’s Italy team as they won the Euros.

This season, the midfielder has appeared in 41 games for the Blues, logging a total of 3037 minutes. During the entire season, the midfield powerhouse has not missed a single match due to injury and has barely rested.
