William Gallas Explains Why Arsenal Shouldn’t Sign Vlahovic Or Jao Felix. Dusan Vlahovic has apparently been linked with a transfer to Arsenal once more. Since joining Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022, the Serbian has not been at his best.
On the other hand, former Arsenal defender William Gallas is sceptical that Vlahovic would fit into Mikel Arteta’s system, comparing the striker to Gabriel Jesus.
Jesus has been a revelation for Arsenal since signing from Manchester City in the summer. In 20 appearances across tournaments, he has five goals and seven assists. His link-up play has been crucial to Arteta’s team’s formation this season.
He did, however, suffer a knee injury while on international duty with Brazil for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He underwent surgery and will be away for three months. As a result, the Gunners will require a new striker, and Vlahovic’s name has been mentioned as a possible new acquisition.
Gallas, on the other hand, believes that the Serbian is not the same as Jesus and does not have the same link-up powers. He told Genting Casino. “Vlahovic will only be a good signing if he fits Arteta’ system. He is very different to Jesus, as Jesus moves around a lot more, making the football good to watch. Jesus is not afraid to play and helps out his teammates. I’m not sure if Vlahovic can do the same.”
Vlahovic was heavily linked with a transfer to the north London club in January but instead decided to join Juventus. This season, he has seven goals and two assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.
Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix has also been linked with a move to Arsenal. Gallas feels the Portuguese will fit in well with the Gunners. He did, however, point out that they already had wide players in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
“Joao Felix could certainly be a good fit for Arsenal. However, you already have Saka on one side and Martinelli on the other. They are both on fire, and Arsenal probably do not need them at the moment.” He said.
